Assessment
Causes include trauma, aphthous ulcers, candida, anaemia, auto-immune conditions, malignancy.
Management
Treat any obvious cause and rule out anaemia.
Referral
The following should be referred directly as a Two Week Wait, rather than using the Referral Support Service.

- unexplained oral mass present for more than three weeks
- other unexplained and persistent oral lesions
